An architectural draughtsman or draughtsperson makes detailed technical drawings or plans for buildings, electronics, infrastructure, sections, etc. Drafters use computer software and manual sketches to convert the designs, plans, and layouts of architects into a set of technical drawings. Drafters operate as the supporting developers and sketch architectural designs and drawings from preliminary design concepts.
Architectural Draughtsman’s drawings provide visual guidelines and show how to construct a structure. Drawings include technical details and specify dimensions, materials, and procedures. Drafters fill in technical details using drawings, rough sketches, specifications, and calculations made by architects. Drafters use technical handbooks, tables, calculators, and computers to complete their work.

Recognition of Prior Learning
If the applicant does not meet the entrance requirements he/she can either do our Architectural Technology: Bridging Programme or apply for recognition of prior learning, the requirements for RPL in this programme is as follows:
The Applicant who wishes to accepted into the programme via RPL must develop a Portfolio of work completed. A portfolio is a logically organised record of a candidate’s evidence of prior learning, and will serve as proof of the candidate’s expertise. It can also include evidence of knowledge or skills gained from a wide variety of sources. This portfolio is usually a set of the applicants art / technical drawings attained from high school or any other institutions.

Practical Working Experience
As an added feature to the program the student is required to complete 200 hours of real working experience with an architectural practice, during the second year of their studies.

The Box Learning Studio conducts site visits for students on a regular basis. Students will be able to experience the real working environment and see the inner workings of of architecture as it connects to the construction, engineering and compliance industries.
